Mosaic Nail Art

I've got a mosaic design to show you today that I have been waiting to do for a while now. I've just got so many ideas that I want to try out but not enough time or nails to do them!

My previous mosaic designs have had a fantastic response, I've done them as a gradient sunset theme, Autumn leaves and with pastel colours. I have always done my mosaics free-hand but it does take a lot of time, so I decided I would do another but use striping tape instead to hopefully save me a bit of time. Now you might be thinking 'why didn't you save yourself the hassle and use striping tape from the start?' - I'm really bad with striping tape, I just don't have the patience to wait for the polish to fully dry so every design ends up smudged or with areas of polish peeled off! So I set myself a challenge to not be beaten by striping tape this time, and here's how it worked out...

Not too bad, not as good as it looked in my head beforehand, but I'm still quite impressed with it!

This mosaic is slightly different to my previous ones in that the shapes are all the same, whereas with free-hand I can make the 'pieces' any shape or size I wanted to. What I really like about this one is the texture that using striping tape causes, because the coloured pieces are raised!

I'm actually quite annoyed at myself because I was supposed to take a few photos along the way to make a mini tutorial and forgot after the first one. But it's pretty simple, just place striping tape across your (completely dry!) painted nail to make the shapes you want (I chose triangles but I think squares would look cool), fill in the spaces with colours, peel it off carefully and voila!

For this I have used Models Own Blueberry Muffin and Southern Lights, as well as Barry M's Guava, Blackberry and Denim.

I'd say this is my least favourite of my other mosaic designs, it's just not as eye-catching. However, it does look very wintery so it might be one I recreate as it gets a bit colder!

What do you think of my mosaic design? Have you tried doing a mosaic before? Let me know your favourite way of doing them and leave me your links in the comments! I think I will be sticking to free-hand from now on because to be honest using striping tape didn't save me as much time as I hoped!
