Review: Rimmel London - Nail Nurse

Sorry for the delay with this post, I know a few of you have been looking forward to reading it and I hope it is worth the wait. It's a wordy post, sorry, but I wanted to give you as much detail as possible...

While I was on holiday I got very lucky and won Rimmel London's Nail Nurse set in a Twitter competition! I was so excited! Not only was I over the moon that I had won the competition, I couldn't be happier to receive this much needed prize as my nails were in a really bad condition from my holiday (chlorine - eurgh!).

My prize was amazing. Look at this cute little ambulance!

And what was inside?

There were 4 'Nail Nurses' sat in the back of the ambulance, all specialising in something different!

From left to right, we have Nail Rescue, Base & Top Coat 5 in 1, Perfectionail and Stronger Nail.

The one I was most excited about using was Nail Rescue, but I was also very interested to see how Perfectionail worked.

  • Nail Rescue:

Nail Rescue is my hero! It claims to give longer, stronger, more resilient nails, and reduce splitting in 2 weeks, and that is exactly what it has done! After the 2 week treatment my nails felt a lot stronger and thicker, my nails used to split and peel a lot but this also stopped - amazing! It is now very, very rare that my nails snap or split which is fantastic!

If you're finding that you're constantly trying different nail strengtheners and they aren't working, it's definitely worth giving Nail Rescue a go. At £4.49 (in Boots and Superdrug at the time), it's a lot less expensive than the strengtheners from brands such as OPI.

This has definitely rescued my nails, they feel a lot stronger and thicker, and the fact that I can now go ages without any breakages is a miracle! My nails were always snapping at work, really far down the nail too. They also used to split and peel quite frequently but that has now stopped. My nails also look healthier, before they looked dull and the surface was very dry, but they now look so much healthier. I'm very pleased with this product! I've tried quite a few nail strengtheners and this is the only one that has actually done what it claims to do.

  • Stronger Nail:

It is difficult for me to comment on the strengthener because my nails became strong from the Nail Rescue. I will say that when I put it on my nails they feel thicker like the Strengthener has added a protective layer on top of my nail. However you can't see it, it just makes them look and feel shiny and healthy.

The strengthener contains calcium and keratin which add strength. It also protects your nail from peeling, splitting, cracking and breaking. To be honest, it sounds like it does exactly the same as the Nail Rescue. So if you're stuck between the two then I'd recommend Nail Rescue because I know it did an amazing job on my nails.

(If you have used the strengthener feel free to leave me a comment below with what you thought about it!)

  • Perfectionail:
Perfectionail evens out ridges and imperfections on your nail to make the surface of your nail smooth. It creates a nice even surface for applying nail varnish, and it also works as a base coat. When used on its own it makes my nails look really nice, they look whiter and healthier as it hides any stains! So, if you wanted to have your nails natural, for example in work, then this is a great product as it isn't obvious you're wearing nail varnish.

Here's a picture of it, I'm wearing it on the nail on the left in the picture. As you can see it's not very obvious, however it does make a difference which I really like.

  • Base & Top Coat 5 in 1:
I really like this product, I've been using it as both a base and a top coat. As it is '5 in 1', it provides stronger, longer, smoother, moisturised and shinier nails. To be honest, I don't know how much of an effect this has had on my nails because the condition of my nails improved so much when I was using just Nail Rescue on it's own. However, as a top coat it is long-lasting and shiny. It's now my usual base and top coat, I recommended it to my friend and she also loves it which is great :)

------------------------

Overall I am very impressed with the Nail Nurse collection, my favourite is definitely Nail Rescue as it made such a huge difference to my nails. I also really like the effect of Perfectionail, it's definitely one I'll be using more often.

My only complaint is that the wand and brush are quite short, I can see some of the polish will end up being wasted which would be a shame.

You can buy Rimmel's Nail Nurse collection from quite a few places. I know Superdrug and Boots sell them for £4.49 each at the moment and they quite often have offers on so it is worth taking a look there.

Have you used any of the Nail Nurse products? Which one are you most tempted by? Leave me a comment below, I'd love to know if you love it as much as I do :)

  2. I'm treating my nail with Nail Rescue, I bought it before I read this but wanted to know what it had done for other people as I've always bitten my nails which has ruined them completely so I'm trying to get out of the habit. I've noticed an amazing difference since the last time I tried to stop biting them, I had long white tips that would just snap off constantly but now my thumb nails especially look healthy and strong for the first time in 15 years :)

    1. That's great, I'm glad someone else loves it as much as I do! :) I found that my thumb nails in particular became very strong too, especially as it was my thumb nails that always used to break!
