Happy 1st Birthday The Naily Mail!

Today my blog turns 1 and what a fantastic year it has been!

I don't know where the idea of a nail blog came from because I didn't read any beforehand. It just came to me and I honestly thought I had come up with something quite original. Ha! I was very wrong, and came across a huge amount of nail blogs, then realised that my little blog would probably never be seen. But I stuck with it and I'm so glad I did because I absolutely love my blog to pieces!

My blog has become part of my everyday life. I love painting my nails, writing and I also love chatting and connecting with other bloggers. There have been a certain handful I have known from the start that I'm very grateful to have come across. Although I haven't actually met any of you, I see you as friends.

Today I'll be reminiscing some of my favourite moments and nails designs from my first year of blogging. I'll also be doing a comparison of my designs and presentation from a year ago to my more recent attempts. I hope you enjoy it :)

My highlights:

- Guest post with Pinkglow's Pretty Polish:

This was really fun and probably the reason for the making of Polish Party! I love Aimée's blog, she's one of the bloggers I've known from the start and I'm very happy that I have got to know her over the past year. You can see her guest post here.

I love this group! It started back in September when myself and a couple of others were discussing doing guest posts after I tweeted that I was looking for someone to do one. We began with just a few of us and since then we have had loads of people join and now the group is quite a bit bigger! It's such a great group to be a part of, I love the challenges and getting to know everyone.

- Raising Money for BCAM:

I wanted to raise money for breast cancer charities during breast cancer awareness month (BCAM) in October. I painted BCAM designs onto false nails and sold them, giving 50% of the money to breast cancer charities. I split the total evenly between Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Care. Although I didn't raise a lot, I am very proud that the money raised will certainly make a difference. I plan to do the same this year and hopefully raise a bit more :)

My favourite nail art:

These are a few of my favourite designs. It was very difficult to pick them but I chose the ones that I know I felt most proud of at the time.

Comparison - the one year difference!

Polish Party November Challenge - Disney
Maybelline Color Show Street Artist
Look at the difference!! I wonder if I will make an improvement that big in another years time?! It's not just the quality of the designs and pictures, it's the writing style too - I actually get really embarrassed reading some of my older posts!

If you want to see the original posts of the designs on here, then click on the caption under the pictures. Unfortunately I don't have posts for the older designs!

I could go on forever talking about my favourite blogging moments from the past year but I realise that this post is getting quite long and wordy, so I'll leave it there!

I hope you've enjoyed it, not just this post but all my posts from the past year! And I also hope you are looking forward to many more posts because I'm not going anywhere! I love blogging, it has become part of my everyday life and it's weird thinking about me without a blog now. If you are considering setting up your own blog then I'd say go for it, it's hard work but very rewarding, and definitely something to be proud of :)

    1. Thank you :) Ahhh I didn't think of calling it a blogiversary - silly me!

  2. This was so lovely to read - thank you! The difference between your older photos and more recent ones is incredible, too! I just set up my blog a couple of weeks ago, and this post has definitely made me more determined than ever to stick at it.

    Thank you!!

    1. Aww what a lovely comment - thank you :) I'm so happy it has made you more determined. Definitely stick with it, I think the hardest bit is the first few months. Keep it up! :)

  3. Congratulations on your one year anniversary. I didn't mark mine, but now wish I had. It's lovely to see how your artwork has improved. I just looked back on some of my earlier manicures, and ones that I was really proud of, I now cringe about!

    1. Thank you :) It's such an amazing improvement, I really hope I can do the same in another year!

  4. What a lovely way to mark your blog's birthday! And I am very proud to have made it to your highlights x x x
