Models Own: Cerise Shine HyperGel Nail Art

Hi everyone,

Just a quick post to show you my latest manicure. I'm quite pleased with this, 'simple yet effective' seems to be working well for me lately.

I'm not sure what you'd call this design, if anyone knows, or has a name suggestion, please let me know! It reminds me of rays of sun, or a fan.

For this I used Models Own Cerise Shine HyperGel and Artistix nail art pen. I love these pens, the brush is fantastic for doing stripes quickly and easily. I've found that the brush is shorter than those of other nail pens I've used and I think that's what makes the Artistix pens easier for me to control. My only complaint is the nib part of the pen always gets blocked for me, and this time it doesn't seem to want to unblock.

Now, you may be wondering why Cerise Shine isn't showing the beautiful natural shine that we have come to know of the HyperGels. That's because I 'mattified' it... and I actually feel really bad like I've committed a crime! It just doesn't feel right mattifying a gel-effect polish - they're supposed to be super shiny! However, the colour is still as beautiful and vibrant as ever, and I love it. But just to get rid of some of the guilt, here it is with it's glossy finish...

What do you think of the matte finish? Should I have stuck with the shine?

I'm still loving the HyperGel polishes and I have been using them a lot. You can see my swatches and reviews of the HyperGels on this page. But if I had to describe them in 3 words, they would be; effortless, professional, vibrant.

What are your thoughts on the HyperGels? I'd love to know!

  1. I think they look like fans, so perhaps that's what you could call it! Such a different way of striping than you normally see! Very pretty x

    1. Yeah, fan was the first thing that came to my head. I was just sure it must have a proper name! Thanks, I'm very pleased with them :) x

  2. It reminds me of that Japanese sun flag. I think I do prefer it shiny (especially when you're using hyper gels) but I understand the temptation to experiment. If no-one tried out new things there would be no such thing as nail art ;-)

    1. I do love matte though! I tend to put on a shiny and matte version because the finish can make the manicure look very different :)
