Models Own: Polish For Tans - Swatches & Review

Hi everyone,

Last week I was extremely lucky and won the new Models Own Polish For Tans collection in their Facebook giveaway - thank you Models Own!! I was so excited, I was dancing around the house with a massive smile on my face for the rest of the day!

The Polish For Tans collection consists of five neon-pastel, on-trend, summer shades. Designed to compliment and enhance your tan (whether real or fake!), these stunning polishes are the perfect way to get your fingers and toes beach-ready.

Bikini - Neon Pastel Yellow
Flip Flop - Neon Pastel Green
Beach Bag - Neon Pastel Orange
Sun Hat - Neon Pastel Hot Pink
Shades - Neon Pastel Pink

I was so excited when I first saw the collection because I love neons! I instantly thought of my all-time favourite polish, Bubblegum from Models Own Ice Neon collection, and was interested to see if one of these could knock Bubblegum from 1st place.

So, the swatches...

My swatches show two coats of the polishes over a white base, they dry to give a slightly matte finish but I've also shown them with a glossy top coat as a comparison.

Flip Flop:

This green is so bright! I'm not usually a fan of green but I absolutely love Flip Flop!

Out of the two pinks in the collection this one is the one I prefer, probably because I don't have a colour like it.

Beach Bag:

A beautiful peachy-orange! At first glance I thought this one was going to be my favourite.

Another bright one! Again, I'm not a huge fan of yellow, but I may have been swayed and can see myself wearing this one quite often. As you can see there isn't a noticeable difference between the shiny and matte finish with this one.

Sun Hat:

This Barbie style hot pink is a must for all the girly-girls out there!

Which is your favourite? Mine is either Sun Hat or Shades, they're both such beautiful colours. But have they booted Bubblegum from the top spot? It's definitely very close!

At first I expected Flip Flop (green) and Sunglasses (yellow) to be very similar to the green of yellow of the Ice Neon collection, however after comparing them I think these are actually more vibrant and stand out more. I'd love to know your opinions on this though, so leave me a comment!

The formula is nice, but I did find the application trickier than other Models Own polishes, particularly with Flip Flop. I used two coats as I think one is too sheer, and I'd recommend using a white base as I find it makes the finish smoother and the colour more vibrant!

I decided to give these a go in some gradient nail art, what do you think of it?

These stunning colours will definitely be catching everyone's eye this summer.

Polish for Tans are priced at £5 each and available in Bottleshops, Superdrug and at now. They will also be available in Boots from 16th April.

Will you be adding these summer essentials to your collection? They have certainly got me in the mood for summer holidays and have given me the kick-up-the-bum I needed to finally get round to booking my holiday to Barcelona! And these will definitely be coming along in my suitcase!

  1. Great review and well done on winning! Shades or Sun Hat are my favs too, need to buy myself them!

  2. Brilliant swatches and nail art! LOVE!! x
