Following on from the Classic Matte Nail Paints, Barry M have added six new stunning summer shades to the collection. Matte nails are still very much on-trend, and with these eye-catching colours they are perfect for summer!

Rhossili - I was so excited about this one, I don't have a colour like this. I think it's quite unusual.

I love the range of colours in this collection. My favourites are Malibu and Rhossili, but I know I'll be wearing them all a lot!

I'm not a huge fan of the formulas of a couple these polishes (Miami and Copacabana), they have quite a thin consistency and as a consequence can leave streaks, even after two coats. The formulas of the others are just right though, especially Malibu's which I thought was perfect! As I've mentioned in previous posts I always prefer a thicker formula. Although, when it comes down to it, the finish is what's most important. And from that perspective these are fantastic.

I’ve read a few comments about the polishes not being as matte as you would expect (or like). I do have to agree with this, they do seem to have a subtle shine to them. To give you a better idea, here is a close-up of Malibu with no top coat.

I have then used Rhossili and shown it side-by-side with and without Barry M's Matte Top Coat, just to compare the effects

Excuse the not-so-neat painting...

As you can see it doesn’t make a huge difference (but it is noticeable), it just seems to smooth the finish, appearing to alter the texture slightly. I'd recommend letting each coat completely dry before painting over it to achieve the best matte effect. Luckily they dry quickly so this shouldn't be a problem.

Overall, I think these polishes are a great addition to Barry M’s collection. I love the colours, and the matte effect makes a nice change to the usual glossy finishes.

The Summer Matte Nail Paints are priced at £3.99 each and will be available in Superdrug June 4th and Boots June 11th, although they are already available on Boots.com. Which shades will you be buying?

I've been really impressed with Barry M's latest nail releases, they really have been treating us! If you've not seen the new Limited Edition Nail Paints yet then you can see my swatches of them here, and the Summer Gelly Nail Paints here. I'll have a review of the new Matte Top Coat up later this week too, so make sure you check back for that!
