Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo - Aussome Volume - Review

Hi everyone,

A different type of post from me today - my first hair product review! I hope you enjoy it.

When I was in Boots earlier this week I came across a new product from Aussie - Miracle Dry Shampoo. I had to get it as, 1) I needed more dry shampoo, and 2) it's Aussie - my absolute favourite hair care brand!

I've found that a lot of people are put off dry shampoos because of their scent, and I have to agree - there's only one brand I've tried up until now that I can actually stand the smell of. But Aussie are well known for their heavenly smelling products, so I had high-hopes that their dry shampoo would be of the same standard.

There are 3 variations of the dry shampoo; Colour Mate for coloured hair, Mega Instant for normal or greasy hair, and Aussome Volume for fine, limp hair. I'll be reviewing Aussome Volume today. They come in 65 mL cans and 180 mL cans. The 60 mL cans are the perfect size for travelling or carrying around in your bag. I'll be picking the smaller one up for my trip to Barcelona in a few weeks!

So, what did I think of it?

I wasn't amazed by the scent, but Aussome Volume is my least favourite scent from the range (Miracle Moist is my favourite - yum!), so I'd be interested in smelling the other two in the dry shampoo collection. It's definitely a nice smell though. When you first spray it it's a bit strong, but once it settles my hair smells just like when I've used Aussie shampoo and conditioner; a sweet scent that's not too overpowering.

What I really like is that the spray is quite light and dispersive compared to other dry shampoos I've tried, which give a thick white spray. I find that volumising dry shampoos make my hair feel sticky, but Aussie's doesn't and I think that's because of the light-weight spray. This also meant I wasn't frantically brushing my hair through to get rid of the white! That said, it still added a nice amount of volume and texture to my very flat hair.

Overall I think this is a great addition to Aussie's range, and if you're looking for a new dry shampoo then I'd highly recommend giving it a go. I'll definitely be buying Aussome Volume again though, after not having much luck with other volumising dry shampoos.

If you're looking to try them then they are currently at an introductory price from Boots; £1.53 for 65 mL (will be £2.29 from 6th August 2014), and £3.33 for 180 mL (will be £4.99 from 6th August 2014). They will also be available from Superdrug

Will you be picking one up?

UPDATE - 29/10/2014

I have been left feeling a bit disheartened after reading negative comments on this review complaining about the product. I know I didn't make the product so I shouldn't feel bad, but I do, I feel as though people are coming here to tell me I am lying about the product. I just want to reiterate what is wrote in my disclaimer; all my reviews are completely honest. I like this dry shampoo, I am still using it and will buy another one once it's finished. Mine hasn't gone watery, it still sprays as a powder and works as it did when I first bought it. For those that are finding it doesn't do enough 'de-greasing', everyones hair is different, just like skin, maybe you could try a dry shampoo that is a bit 'thicker' (like I have said in my review this spray is quite 'thin'/lightweight)? You might be reading this and think I'm being silly for feeling down about the comments, but I just felt like people were blaming me and I just wanted to clear things up :)

  1. ooh I was in Boots earlier and didn't see this - might have to pick one up for myself. How many applications would you say that this lasts for? x

    1. Hmmm I don't really know. It's quite a big bottle so it's going to last quite a while, but I really couldn't say how many applications - sorry to be so useless!

  3. I've never used dry shampoo, but I've heard a lot of good things about some brands. This seems to be a great one too! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I picked the mega instant one yesterday, definitely a nice change of fragrance compared to the batiste ones but I'm yet to use it, hope it's as good as it smells!

  5. I've got such a love hate relationship with dry shampoo! I didn't realise Aussie had one out so I'll have to give it a try.

  6. I was so excited about using this, as the rest of the Aussie range is amazing, but have been left dissapointed. I tried the one for coloured hair and my hair looked exactly the same after id applied it :( ... back to Batiste for me :)

  7. I bought this, tried it once and it was fine. Went to use it again a few days later and the whole can had turned into a liquid spray coming out! Thoroughly dissapointed

    2. That's strange, mine is still a powder 3 months after buying it and is working fine :/

  8. This also happened to me. Complete waste of money. I had to endure greasy hair all day. One person even commented that they could 'fry chips in my hair'. Thanks Aussie!

    1. I found this spray to be quite lightweight as I have said above, so maybe a thicker spray would help? I found Batiste to be thick, but for me it was too thick and it made my hair sticky. Everyone's hair is different though!

  9. unfortunately I have had the same experience with this product as most of the reviewers. I bought six bottles from superdrug as they were on a half price promotion. unfortunately each can went watery after only using half the can and then stopped spraying altogether. I would not recommend this product as the results were really disappointing
