Water Spotted Nails - Black, White, & Gold - Triplet Nails

In June I took part in a 'Triplet Nails' challenge with Aimée from Pinkglow's Pretty Polish, and Madison from Fundamentally Flawless. We all loved it so much that we decided to do it again, this time choosing 'Water Spotted nails' as our theme. We try to pick themes that will challenge us to try new techniques and develop our skills, and Water Spotted seemed like it would be one that was definitely going to test our patience as well as our skills!

Here's my design...

Waterspotted is definitely the most difficult nail technique I have tried! It took many attempts and a lot of 'GRRRR!s' and mess, but I think the overall look was worth every second of it - I'm really pleased with how it turned out! As I had to redo it so many times I had plenty of practise, and in the end I suppose it became quite easy!

I used Barry M's Matt White as a base, then did my first layer of water spotting with Barry M's Gold Foil, followed by Black. There are quite a few tutorials on how to do waterspotted nails on YouTube, but I decided to use the perfume method to create the 'spots' after hairspray and hand sanitiser didn't work.

Check out Aimée's and Madison's Waterspotted nails below! Click on their names or their pictures to visit their blog posts about this theme.

I love how different our manicures look even though we used the same technique!

Another really fun challenge that pushed me to try something new - I can't wait for our next one! If you want to see the previous instalment of Triplet Nails (the Saran Wrap technique) you can do so here.

Have you tried water spotted nails before? I'd love to see if you have, leave me a link to them in the comments :)
