Barry M AW14 Silk Nail Paint Swatches* - Orchid, Forest, Poppy

After being completely obsessed with Barry M's Silk Nail Paints that were released this spring, imagine my delight when I found out that they would be adding three more shades to the collection for AW14! These latest additions are deep, jewel-toned shades and ohhhh-my-goodness they are BEAUTIFUL!!!

I love the finish of the Silk Nail Paints, they dry to give a matte sheen that looks so smooth and flawless. These darker shades have a lovely shimmer to them too! They naturally dry matte so there's no need to add a matte top coat and you don't want to add a glossy one either or you will lose the effect!

Orchid*
A stunning colour. I've been after a colour like this for a while! It's not as shimmery as the other two.
2 coats.

Forest*
This one seems to have more of a shimmer to it - it's really eye-catching! I thought this one looked the least 'matte' out of the three.
2 coats.

Poppy*
Another one with a lovely shimmer. I know this will be one of my favourites for around Christmas time.
2 coats.

The formula
The Silk Nail Paints applied effortlessly. I found the formulas to be really smooth, very similar to the Spring versions (you can see my swatches of those here). They apply thinly so you do need two coats. I would definitely recommend you use thin coats rather than thick ones as it will dry smoother and the silky/matte effect will be more obvious. I applied two thin coats making sure the first coat was completely dry before adding the second one. They dry very quickly, taking about a minute for the shine to disappear and the matte sheen to form.

My favourite
Orchid - the colour is stunning. I recommend getting all three if you can though, the colours and finish are just so beautiful! I think Orchid may now have a place in my 'Top 10 polishes of all time' list - now that is something special!

Overall
I am loving these three additions to the Silk collection and can't recommend them enough for autumn/winter - I know I'll be wearing them a lot! I think the Silks are my favourite Barry M release this year although I've still got the new Glitterati, Aquarium, and Classic Nail Paints to try, so check back for swatches of them over the next week!

Barry M's AW Silk Nail Paints are available in Superdrug now and in Boots from 1st October, priced at £3.99 each.

  8. Like you I'm a big fan of the original Silk shades so when I saw your tweet with these in I ran straight out to buy them! The free mascara for buying all three (well, spending over £7) was a bit of a bonus too. I haven't tried them yet as I'm staying at my boyfriends and don't have a base coat with me but I can't wait to try them when I get home tomorrow. They look stunning x
