Barry M AW14 Classics Swatches* - Nightshade, Vintage Violet, Ballerina

It has been a while since Barry M have added some new shades to their Classic Nail Paint collection, however this AW there are three new additions and they are very pretty indeed!

My swatches show each colour with a glossy top coat and also with Barry M's Matte Top Coat

Ballerina*

To be honest I'm not a huge fan of pale pinks as I don't think they suit me, what do you think? I did fall in love with it once I had put the matte top coat on though, it looks so delicate and pretty.
2/3 coats.

Looking pretty with a matte finish...

Vintage Violet*
I love this colour! It's got a nice grey undertone to it - I haven't got a colour like it. I think I'll be using this one quite a lot!
2 coats.

It looks lovely matte too! I don't know which I prefer!

Nightshade*
This plum shade is so deep it almost looks black! In the pictures you can't really see the purple tones coming through, it's one of those you have to see in person. Purple shades and cameras never really get along!
2 coats.

I'm really not keen on Nightshade with a matte finish...

Formula

The application is nice and they apply smoothly but when I first tried them I think I was putting too much on as after a few seconds it was running down and pooling down the sides of a few of my nails, so I recommend that you use thin coats to avoid this. They seem to be a bit 'runnier' than Barry M's Gellys, for example. I have used two coats of each apart from Ballerina where a couple of nails required a third coat to even out some streaks.

Priced at only £2.99 each, Barry M's AW Classic Nail Paints are available in Superdrug now, and in Boots from 1st October. If you fancy trying them out with a matte finish, Barry M's Matte Top Coat is also available from Superdrug and Boots priced at £2.99, you can read my review of it here.

What do you think of these pretty polishes? Are there any that you think look better with a glossy or matte finish? Let me know!

Have you seen the other Barry M Nail Paint releases for AW14? See the Gellys and Silks now, and the Glitterati and Aquarium Nail Paints very soon!

  1. Ballerina is definitely my favourite. I wasn't sure if I was going to like these at first but they look so nice! Thanks for showing them with the matt top coat too, it's a good idea, I need to add that too my list too :) :)

  2. Ballerina with that matte top coat is absolutely gorgeous, in some pictures it's seemed quite like berry ice cream but seeing it on it's definitely got different undertones than that. I do think the violet shade is quite like another shade of theirs I can't quite place though (Cappuccino? Maybe.)

  3. I think Ballerina is a good dupe for Nails Inc Bruton Street, which I am very happy about because I like the colour, but not the price. Thank you again Barry M for giving us an affordable copy of a high end brand polish. :)

The two purples are gorgeous, I wasn't going to buy any of these, but seeing them swatched changed my mind.
