Birchbox - October 2014 - 'Work It'

*SPOILER ALERT*

I love Birchbox day!! This month I managed to avoid nearly all of the spoilers so the contents of my box was a nice surprise!

October's 'Work It' box aims to get us motivated as well as focus on our health and wellbeing. With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month (I did some nail art for it here btw!) Birchbox have partnered with Coppafeel, an amazing charity aiming to teach women how to spot the early signs of breast cancer and encourage them to seek help when something doesn't seem right.

So, what was in my box?

Pixi by Petra - Shea Butter Lip Balm
This nourishing lip balm is lightly tinted and leaves my lips feeling super soft! I got the 'Honey Nectar' one (full sized) but I think I'll be purchasing the Ripe Raspberry one too!

Catter - Pink Clay Face Mask
Containing aloe vera, shea butter, and peppermint this pink clay mask aims to illuminate your complexion and soften skin. Below is a silly picture of me and my sister wearing it, we thought our skin felt really soft afterwards apart from in the middle of our foreheads we both had a dry patch afterwards - strange! I think my skin looks brighter which is great :)

:D   :P

Shaveworks - The Cool Fix
Out of everything this is the item I am most excited to use. The cooling gel treats ingrown hairs as well as bumps/redness/rashes caused by shaving. The skin on my lower legs is very sensitive and is often left red and bumpy after shaving so I'm excited to give The Cool Fix a try! I'll update this once I've used it a few times.

Lollipops Nail Lacquer - Voyage A Paris
I really like this polish! The formula is smooth, the brush is easy to use allowing for a neat application, it dries quickly, and the finish is lovely and shiny! My swatches below show two coats with no top coat. I can't find a website where I can look at other shades of Lollipops Nail Lacquer which is a shame because I'd definitely be interested in buying some more! Another full sized sample.

So much shine!! <3

KMS California - Tame Frizz Taming Creme
I've not tried this yet so again I will update this once I have had a few uses out of it. You can work it through damp hair for heat protection when drying and styling, and for reducing frizz and flyways too. When used on dry hair it will add extra definition and manageability. This is a very generously sized sample, I'm expecting to get a lot of use out of it! It smells lovely too!

A little extra...
Instead of the drawstring bag you usually get in your Birchbox, this time we got a little pink cosmetics bag - it's really cute! I'm going to be popping the Lipstick pen in my handbag too - it's much prettier than the pens currently in my bag!

Overall...
...a nice box, I'm loving all the pink in support of Coppafeel for Breast Cancer Awareness Month too. August and September's boxes were going to be pretty hard to beat and I was expecting to be disappointed, but I'm happy! I'm loving the lip balm and nail polish so far (I'm looking to repurchase them both) and I'm very excited to use The Cool Fix.

You can get your own 'Work It' box from the Birchbox website, and find out more about each of the products in my box by clicking the pink headings throughout the post. This month Birchbox are donating £1 to Coppafeel for every new subscriber so there's never been a better time to join!

What do you think of October's Birchbox? If you have wrote a post about yours then leave me a link in the comments below so I can have a nosey at what you got too :)

  1. You got mostly what's coming in mine :) I'm intrigued by the shaving gel and lip balm :). I always seem to get the same red nail varnish colour in every box, can only have so many reds x

    1. I agree! I have to admit when I saw it was a red nail polish I was like 'oh not another', but I absolutely love it! x
