Barry M Speedy Nail Paint - Swatches & Review

I have more Barry M newness to share with you today; the Speedy Nail Paint collection. Speedy Nail Paint aims to give you a shiny, long lasting mani in just a few seconds, so it's perfect for those that are strapped for time! There are nine beautiful spring and summer shades in the collection and I've got swatches of them all below.

Top (L-R): Eat My Dust, Pit Stop, Full Throttle
Middle (L-R): In A Heart Beat, Pole Position, Kiss Me Quick
Bottom (L-R): Stop The Clock, Lap Of Honour, Road Rage

How cool are their names?!

Although the pastel shades have got me very excited, my favourite thing about the Speedy Nail Paints is the new flat, wide, flow-control brush. This makes painting nails a dream! The application is so quick and easy as it sort of spreads to cover the whole nail. So it's not just the quick-dry formula that make these so speedy, it's the super quick and easy application too. I hope Barry M start using this brush in their future collections!

Eat My Dust
A lovely grey-blue. I love blue and I know I'll be wearing this one a lot over Spring, maybe paired with some white polka dots?
3 coats, no top coat

Stop The Clock
I wasn't too sure about this shade at first because I don't really like yellow, but it's actually a very subtle yellow and is very pretty!
2 coats, no top coat

In A Heart Beat
I don't think this colour suits me at all but I think it's going to be one of the more popular ones in the collection, especially in the summer. It's such a lovely colour!

Road Rage
This is one of my favourites! I'll be pairing this with some white stripes next time I wear it :)

Lap Of Honour
A pretty lilac shade. It's probably just about neutral enough for you to wear to work.

Full Throttle
Again, I don't think this suits me but I do love the colour. Maybe it will look better when I have a tan?

Pole Position
Another favourite! Although I was surprised by how much I loved it to be honest. I feel the need to paint little flowers all over it!

Pit Stop
This is a grey with a hint of lilac. It's not a colour I'd usually wear but it's perfect for anyone that requires a quick, neutral mani for work!

Kiss Me Quick
Mmm this colour makes me think of strawberry milkshakes!

These are all on the thin side and are quite streaky on the first coat, but I suppose it's being thin that makes them dry quickly. Some required two coats whereas others needed a third (I've wrote under each name how many coats I used for each one). They do apply nicely though and I'm putting that down to the new style brush which I am loving! As I said at the beginning of the post, some of the speediness definitely comes from the easy application as well as the quick-dry formula. They do dry pretty quickly; by the time I had painted all ten nails the first one was dry and ready to paint over with another coat.

My swatches show the polishes with no top coat because their main purpose is speed, and adding a top coat will add to the drying time. You can see that they are fairly shiny without a top coat though, and I wore Eat My Dust for two days in work and experienced no chipping which was great (especially as my job usually destroys my nails!).

My Picks
It's very rare that I love every shade in a collection so this is a tough decision. If I had to pick just three to recommend to you it would be Pole Position as you probably don't have a shade like it, Eat My Dust because I think it's a shade that will suit everyone, and In A Heart Beat because it is the perfect summer colour.

Barry M's Speedy Nail Paint collection will be available to buy in Superdrug from 11th February, and Boots from the 18th February, priced at £3.99 each.

  1. I love the look of the entire collection! Such gorgeous shades. I definitely want to treat myself to Pole Position, In a Heart Beat and Lap of Honour! xo

  2. I totally agree with you - this new flat brush is definitely exciting news!! I can't wait til they are released so I can try it out for myself. My favourites are the greens, because, mint greens :D. But I also like the pale orange and yellow as I don't think I have anything else similar. x

    1. The brush is fantastic! Yeah the yellow and orange aren't colours I'd usually go for but they're very different to anything else I have in my collection, and Pole Position too :)

  3. Love Lap of Honour, I love muted tones so these are perfect for me to at least join a pastel ish trend this year!

    1. Lap of Honour seems to be a popular one!

  4. I'm in love with Lap of Honour! I'm glad they've thought about the brush though, because that was always my pet peeve about Barry M polishes - the thin brush made application so frustrating!

    1. Yeah I think it's great that they didn't just think about the formula when making quick drying polishes because the brush makes a huge difference to how quick & easy it is to paint your nails too!

  5. I think my favourites would have to be In a heartbeat, Lap of honour and Kiss me quick, although I'm not 100% sure that In a heartbeat would suit me. Even though it's not really my sort of colour at all I'm also drawn to Pit stop. I'm hoping Boots or Superdrug will have an offer on so I can grab a few shades to try. I know they're not expensive anyway but everyone loves a bargain! x
