OPI Hawaii Collection - Swatches & Review

Before I start I just want to apologise for the delay with this post; my dissertation deadline and exams are less than two weeks away so blogging has had to take a back seat unfortunately. Just four more weeks and I'll be back!

OPI Hawaii is my favourite OPI collection to date. There's a polish for everyone; take your pick between pretty pastels, feel-good brights, subtle shimmers, and a staple nude, all inspired by the destination at the top of my holiday wishlist - Hawaii!

You may remember from a few weeks back that I reviewed two polishes from this collection; 'That's Hula-rious!' and 'Is Mai-Tai Crooked?'. I kept banging on about how much I love them, and 'That's Hula-rious!' was my Nail Polish Of The Month for March

I'm very excited to have the full set of 12 to show you today! Again, I'm sorry for the delay. I hope you enjoy it!

L-R: This Color's Making Waves*, Suzi Shops & Island Hops*, My Gecko Does Tricks*,
Lost My Bikini In Molokini*, Go With the Lava Flow*, That's Hula-rious!*,
Is Mai Tai Crooked?*, Hello Hawaii Ya?*, Do You Take Lei Way?*, Aloha From OPI*,
Pineapples Have Peelings Too*, Just Lana-ing Around*.

Go With The Lava Flow
3 coats, no top coat
This is one of my favourites of the collection. The red-pink polish has tiny flecks of bronze glitter throughout which gives this polish a golden shimmer. When it catches the light it is so beautiful! You could get away with two coats but adding a third one gives it more of a 'wow' factor. I found that it chipped quite easily though which is a shame.

Just Lana-ing Around
2 coats, no top coat
I was surprised by how much I loved this one when it was on my nails. It has a very subtle silver shimmer throughout, which makes the polish a hundred times prettier in my eyes!

This Color's Making Waves
2 coats, no top coat
I love this one, it's so beautiful and seems to be most people's favourite of the collection. The shimmery blue polish has tiny gold flecks throughout that catch the light. I think 'mermaid tail' every time I look at it.

Suzi Shops & Island Hops
3 coats, no top coat
A pretty pastel baby pink. My sister has this on constantly, she's got a nice tan so it suits her more than it does me at the moment. Hurry up summer!

Pineapple's Have Peelings Too
2 coats, no top coat
This is a strange one, it doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the collection in my opinion. I'm not a fan of it to be honest! The yellow polish is filled with hexagonal glitter in red, blue, green, silver, black, and purple. If I was to wear it again it would be paired with white in some simple nail art.

Lost My Bikini In Molokini
2 coats, no top coat
I think OPI make the best purples. This one has a lovely formula; it's smooth and very pigmented. A colour I would happily wear all year round.

Do You Take Lei Way?
2 coats, no top coat
This is the work-appropriate nude polish of the collection. I never wear nude polish on its own, just because I love bright nails, so this is another that I'd pair with some nail art.

That's Hula-rious!
3 coats, no top coat
My favourite of the collection and possibly my favourite OPI polish so far! I've reviewed this one before and I keep describing it as 'refreshing and energetic' - I love it! You definitely need it!

Aloha From OPI
2 coats, no top coat
A red-coral that is going to be perfect on my toes this summer. Another lovely formula <3

My Gecko Does Tricks

2 coats, no top coat
I was pleasantly surprised when I put on this polish. I didn't expect to like it when I first saw it because, although I love bright nails, the colour is so powerful! You'll certainly turn a few heads wearing it. I actually really like it, especially with the pearly gold effect running through it.

Hello Hawaii Ya?

2 coats, no top coat
A dusky purple. Again, I'd very happily wear this one all year round.

Is Mai Tai Crooked?

4 coats, no top coat
I don't wear orange that often because it doesn't really suit me. This one really caught my eye though because it's quite a soft orange, with an edge of pastel about it. The formula isn't great though, I needed four coats to get an even finish!

My Favourites
My top three are 'That's Hula-rious!', 'Just Lana-ing Around', and 'This Color's Making Waves'. These are the three that I just couldn't take my eyes off when I was wearing and I'm sure you'll love them too!

As I said at the beginning, OPI Hawaii is my favourite OPI collection so far. I'm a huge OPI fan and always get extremely excited when they release new polishes. Thank you for another beautiful collection OPI! Once my exams are over I'm looking forward to using these in some summer nail art - any requests? Let me know!

Availability
OPI Hawaii nail polishes are available to buy from the OPI UK website priced at £11.95 each, and the Little Hulas set of four mini polishes for £14.50.

What do you think of the OPI Hawaii collection? Do you have a favourite shade? Let me know!

  1. There really are some beautiful shades in this collection. I have about 4/5 favourites but I won't name them as it will involve a lot of scrolling up and down to find out the shade names! x

    1. Haha! One fairly useless skill of mine is being able to name every single polish I own! x

  2. This is a weird one for me. I really like the idea of a Hawaii collection but when I've walked past them in the shops the only one that really catches my eye is the yellow glitter... but it looks so strange, I'm not quite sure what I'd do with it! Now I've seen a few sneak peeks of the OPI A/W collection and I think I might hold off til then as they look a bit more my style. I'm very fussy when it comes to pricier polish!
