St Tropez Gradual Tan - In Shower Lotion Review

As The Naily Mail is primarily a nail blog I tend to only post about non-nail beauty products if I think they're something special. I'm a complete newbie when it comes to tanning products; I've always avoided them because I've never fancied the risk of looking like an Oompa Loompa. The constant whiff of fake tan during my time in high school was also quite off-putting. Being extremely health conscious means no sun beds for me either, so yes, I tend to opt for pale and pasty! When I got the chance to try out the new St Tropez Gradual Tan In Shower Lotion* I was; (a) worried about looking streaky and orange, and (b) amazed that it only takes three minutes and fits into my daily routine so easily.

So, how does it work?
You wash yourself as normal with your usual shower gel, then with the shower turned off you apply the lotion to your skin in circular motions. Wait for three minutes then rinse it off with warm water. I really don't think tanning could get any easier than that.

The lotion is creamy and moisturising, but it is a bit smelly. Nowhere near as bad as normal fake tan but I can smell it slightly on my skin afterwards. It doesn't rub off and stain bed sheets or clothes though which is a big plus in my opinion. I've noticed a few comments on social media sites saying 'I bet this will be so streaky', but it's really not. I was worried about streaking but I've had none at all - my tan is even and looks very natural. It's a gradual tan so you apply it daily until you reach your desired colour. Three days is recommended but I find that two days gives me a nice glow.

It is available to buy now from Boots, priced at £14.50. It is more expensive than I expected but I'll definitely be picking up another when this bottle runs out.

Overall

I'm really impressed; I love how my skin looks and feels after using it, I've got no streaks whatsoever and it is so simple to use. If you're new to tanning like me then I'd definitely recommend it. It's a big thumbs up from me!

  1. I really like the thought of this! I'm the same as you with tan - terrified of streaking and orangeness! How many body applications do you think you get from a bottle?
