Models Own - Chrome Pink

Back in February Models Own released their Colour Chrome collection consisting of ten different metallic/foil effect polishes. Today I have swatches and a review of one of the shades, Chrome Pink*, for you courtesy of Product Testing.

My swatches show two coats of Chrome Pink with no top coat.

I was very impressed with the quality of the polish; it applied extremely smoothly and was opaque, and streak-free, in just one coat. That said, it's best to apply a second or third coat to build up the polish to make it more resilient as for the best effect you don't wear a top coat. I did try it with a top coat but it ruined the beautiful silky finish it is meant to have. Unfortunately this means it's not very long-wearing and is prone to tip-wear.

The finish of the polish means that any imperfections on your nail, e.g. ridges, will show, as will brush lines. These don't really bother me because they're only noticeable very close up. Maybe give your nails a buff beforehand and make sure they're clean to get a smoother finish. I wouldn't wear a base coat; the polish doesn't apply well over it so you get a very patchy and rough finish. None of the colours are too pigmented so staining shouldn't be a problem without a base coat.

Overall Chrome Pink is a lovely polish and is one that I'll be popping in my suitcase for my holiday. I don't have another polish like it which makes it quite special to me.

Chrome Pink and the rest of the Colour Chrome collection are available to buy on the Models Own website or from Superdrug priced at £4.99.

  1. This is such a cute colour =]

  2. I bought four of these when they first came out but I have to admit I haven't used them much since I bought them. I don't like to use a top coat either, as it ruins the effect, but then as you said they don't last as long. I also have these strange what I call fault lines that run down several of my nails that also ruin the effect slightly. They're very pretty though x

  3. I like this pink.
