Just My Look - Mani Swap with Pinkglow's Pretty Polish

Exciting post today! Not too long ago myself and Aimée from Pinkglow's Pretty Polish were set a fun challenge by Just My Look; we picked four nail polishes from their range for each other and then did some nail art with them. We thought a mani swap would be fun. The hardest part of the challenge for me was picking the polishes for Aimée - the range is huge! The colours we received were a complete surprise which was very exciting!

When my parcel arrived I was very happy to find the following four polishes from the Just My Look website...

L-R: OPI 'Pedal Faster Suzi', OPI 'Where Did Suzi's Man-go?',
Morgan Taylor 'Varsity Jacket Blues', Morgan Taylor 'Dress Up'.

They're all so beautiful. I've included swatches and a mini review of each of them below and then we'll get on to the mani swap and nail art!

Morgan Taylor - Varsity Jacket Blues*
2 coats, no top coat
This is my favourite of the four polishes. I fell in love with it instantly and it has earned itself a place as one of my all-time favourite polishes. It has featured as my Nail Polish of the Month for June, and in my Top 5 Summer Nail Polishes post (it was voted Number 1 by my Instagram followers!). The formula is nice but a little runny, and the brush isn't as precise as I'd like it to be, so I did find it a little tricky to apply when it came to painting neatly.

Morgan Taylor - Dress Up*
2 coats, no top coat
I'm seeing this colour everywhere recently, it's very popular this summer. The formula is similar to Varsity Jacket Blues, and I had the same problem with the brush, but overall it gives a nice finish and it dries fairly quick.

Where Did Suzi's Man-go?*
2 coats, no top coat
I love OPI and am always very happy when I get to add another of their shades to my collection. This is quite a toned-down orange which I think most people feel much more comfortable wearing compared to a bright orange. The formula is nice as I usually always find with OPI.

OPI - Pedal Faster Suzi*
3 coats, no top coat
I wasn't too sure on this at first because I thought it might be a bit sheer, but I actually found that it built up very well to give a very pretty finish. Applying a very thin coat over the top of another colour also looks pretty.

Mani Swap
The next part of the challenge was to recreate a piece of each other's nail art using the colours we had been sent. I decided to try Aimée's purple galaxy design that you can see below.

I found it really difficult! The first time went very wrong, but I got it to look slightly like a galaxy the second time round...

See Aimée's recreation of my mosaic design here.

  1. I tried a galaxy design recently and it really didn't work! I always seem to struggle with more complicated nail art techniques. I'm still trying to master stamping and water marbelling and they're not going so well either! x
