Models Own - Polish For Tans 2015 - Swatches

I'm fairly confident that Models Own Polish For Tans is my favourite nail polish collection to date. That's a big statement for a nail polish addict to make! I love neons so much, I'll more than happily wear them all year round. The original Polish For Tans collection consisted of five pastel-neon shades (you can see my swatches here) aiming to compliment and enhance a tan. You don't need to be particularly tanned though, I'm quite pale and they still look great!

I was very excited when I found out that Models Own were releasing five more shades. They are quite different to the originals in terms of formula and finish, and I'd say only two of them are neon whereas the other three are just very bright colours, but they still fit perfectly into the collection.

Compared with the 2014 set, I find these new additions to have a thinner formula and give a glossy finish rather a semi-matte finish. The finish isn't as glossy as I'd like it to be so I recommend adding a top coat.

Turquoise Sea*
2 coats, no top coat
I'm sure you all know by now how much I love bright blue shades so it'll be no surprise that this is the one that stood out to me the most - I couldn't wait to get my hands on it! I wasn't disappointed, the colour is so bright and uplifting. I wouldn't say it's neon, and it's definitely more blue than turquoise in my eyes, but the colour is perfect for summer. I love it!

Sarong Wrap*
3 coats, no top coat
I was very disappointed with this one unfortunately. I'm not keen on yellow anyway but it was the formula that let Sarong Wrap down; it was very thin and streaky and I found it very difficult to get an even finish. I think applying a white base beforehand might help with the finish. Tip: I like to wear a white base under neons as it helps the colour pop.

Malibu Pink*
2 coats, no top coat
I love this one! It's so incredibly bright and girly. I think this is my new favourite pink polish.

Beach Hut*
2 coats, no top coat
Wow! I think this is the brightest polish I have ever seen! The picture really doesn't do it justice, it is much brighter in person. It's beautiful but I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to wear it, I can see myself wearing it with white in a geometric design maybe.

Cocktail Hour*
2 coats, no top coat
I love this one too! It's definitely neon. Red-coral shades are a summer essential and are spotted on nearly every set of toes in the summer. Cocktail Hour will be going on mine for my holiday!

If you have to pick just two...
...make it Cocktail Hour and Turquoise Sea. If you can stretch to a third one then pick Malibu Pink!

Overall I'm loving these new additions to Polish For Tans. Like I said at the start, it's one of my favourite collections and I'm constantly recommending it. I'll definitely be packing a few of them in my suitcase in a couple of weeks time.

  7. Bought Cocktail Hour last summer 2015 and absolutely love it. I've only got a half bottle left so thought I would stock up with some more. Really disappointed as something has changed with the colour formula and it is definitely a different shade. A little bit darker and not as neon. Still nice as a standalone colour but it is not the same and should really be given another name. Has anybody else noticed the colour change?
